This report by Pinion Advisory forms part of the GRDC Stored Grain Project and examines when, why, and under what conditions onfarm storage creates value in the Southern region. Rather than presenting storage as a uniform investment decision, the analysis positions storage as a decision tool that alters marketing, logistics, and quality management choices available to growers. The objective is not to determine whether storage is inherently “good” or “bad”, but to clarify why outcomes differ between businesses and seasons, and why price only rules often fail.
